WFF: RecksJr’s Boston Celtics Association

LC November 4, 2012 0

First off, give us a quick summary of your chise up to this point.
The Boston Celtics came out the gates this season very strong, pulling off a 32-3 record in 35 games. This record would make it their longest franchise winning streak since 2008 (19 wins) and topping the 71-72 Lakers’ winning streak of 33. Celtics sit at #1 in the eastern conference, just a few games above the Miami Heat. We’ll look to try and maintain the top position throughout the league. With a .914 win%, we’re playing a percentage of .323 better than last season (.591)

What made you choose this team?
“Knicks fans by birth, Celtics fan to the heart”, that’s my only excuse when I’m asked why I don’t follow Knicks basketball. I just love this team. It’s setup, it’s legacy, Celtics’ Pride. This season could be make or break for them. Pierce and Garnett are in the final stages of their career and it will soon be time to really rebuild this team, so I want to see how far I can push this team and keep it’s defensive mentality in the seasons to come.

What’s your teams strengths and weaknesses?
Strength: Defense of course. Defense has always been the #1 priority, half the time, it’s how we get our fast breaks and big stops when needed when we pull together and stay on point. Another strength we have is our three point shooters. We have about solid 3-pt marksmen on the roster, Pierce, Terry, and Lee. When giving the space, we can boost that number to 5 players, adding Tyreke Evans and Rondo on certain nights. Lastly, our inside paint game is phenomenal. Have a lot of weight to push around there to get points.
Weakness: #1 would definitely be our fastbreak defense. We can’t seem to leak out much with our opponents to prevent fastbreaks on our misses. We really get beat on that heavily. Another big weakness is our offensive rebounding. It’s always been a problem to fix, but averaging 25-30 points per quarter and working hard on the defensive boards, it makes those easy offensive rebounds not much of a nuisance.

Who is your favorite player on your team?
Hard not to choose just one out of Pierce, Garnett, & Rondo, but this season it’ll have to be Rondo. All three men have been stepping it up big this season, but Rondo has been running the show like crazy, offensively and defensively. 13.5ppg, 13.8apg, looking good so far. If I may add, Fab Melo has shown some raw promise to be a solid center in the future.

Who has been your best acquisition? (through sign/trade)
Tyreke Evans. Got Evans via trade. Giving up Avery Bradley and Jeff Green was a tough decision, giving their talent and skills, but after Evans signed that 6 year contract, Evans would be a great candidate to follow suit of Paul Pierce. Main reason of giving up Green and Bradley was allocate more minutes to spread around and maintain chemistry. With Evans, he doesn’t have a true position, so he’s very reliable for us when it comes to backing up the 1 and the 3. He also been a major plus on the fast break game with Rondo, Terry, and Lee. And with Evans having a 6 year contract, he’ll be a good long term project in the back court/wing.

Greatest moment in your chise so far
Greatest moment in my chise thus far would be Rajon Rondo scoring 55, 15 assists, and 9 steals against the Nets on X-Mas. Rondo was the savior of the night, exploding on both sides of the ball. He really put the team on his back when nobody else could stay hot or get anything going. That night was really amazing the team, seeing one player excel beyond his abilities and practically play a 1-vs-5 game.

What other chises do you follow on here?
Follow pretty much everyone’s chises. Agent’s “Beating The Odds” & “Coast To Coast” (If he’s still doing that), Soapy’s “New York State of Mind”, JBates24′s “Welcome To Clutch City”, Big C-Dub’s “We Are Warriors”, mike3′s “New Traditions”, Justin’s “The Wolf Pack”, DeeJay’s “Utah Pride”, MrSiXeRs6′s “Believe and Achieve”, TheNaturalMVP’s “New Team. New Dream.”. I’m also a silent follower in the NCAA and NFL chises, I get some good reads in almost twice a day, so big shout out to everyone doing their thing.

If you could improve/change one thing about DSS, what would it be?
Nothing I would change that I know of. Everyday I see the same posters, so it feels like this forum is sacred lands or something lol. The forum is pretty much organized, really like it as is.

Have any tips for other chisers?
I know I’m the one to run through about 40 chises, but like a few advisers told me, just keep at it. I know a lot of y’all guys like to be very realistic as possible, but don’t be afraid to be creative and change the face of your chise. I.E. I had a NBA chise that featured Kobe Bryant as a Sixer, we all know that’s never going to happen, but it’s something to keep the creativity juices flowing. And if you feel burned out from playing with the same team in your chise, try playing against them. No harm in that. But mostly, just keep at it.
