WFF: Cheese2121′s 49ers Franchise

LC June 19, 2011 0

First off, give us a quick summary of your chise up to this point.

We are currently 4-0 in my first season (2011-2012) and sitting atop the NFC West. We had a pretty active 2011 offseason after a very weak showing in the previous season (simmed). I worked really hard to bring in a lot of youth and explosive playmakers to both sides of the ball. I got a brand new coaching staff along with a new field general in Ryan Mallett who we are hoping can develop into the franchise quarterback that Alex Smith never was. Overall, the future looks very bright for us as an organization but we still have a long ways to go before we call it all a success.

What made you choose this team?

This was actually the first time ever, I took user input when deciding on my team. After taking a long break from chising and wrapping up my VT dynasty I knew I wanted to do a Madden ’11 and get back into the NFL where I had originally started. I narrowed it down to about five teams and then having no allegiance to them held an online poll to get people’s opinions. I will admit though that a large part of me was thinking it would be the Niners all along.

What’s your teams strengths and weaknesses?

Our strength is definitely our defense, led by Patrick Willis, who I can honestly say is one of the most beastly defenders I have ever had. Our offense is slowly coming together although Frank Gore has been off to a slower start than I would like averaging under 4 yards per carry. I would definitely like to improve on our rushing attack. The passing game has been pretty good under Mallett although he has had some rookie interception problems but that should go away with age. I switched the offense to a Run ‘n’ Gun vertical passing attack to mirror what he ran at Arkansas and to utilize his best ability, which is throwing the deep ball.

Who is your favorite player on your team?

My favorite player is definitely middle linebacker Patrick Willis, he is the heart and soul of not just our defense but also the team. The guy is an absolute monster on the defensive side of the ball.

Who has been your best acquisition? (through sign/trade)

The best acquisition has definitely been the drafting of quarterback Ryan Mallett in the second round of the 2011 NFL draft. He has emerged as everything he was advertised and while it is probably too early to tell, I think he has all the tools to develop into a great quarterback in the NFL.

Greatest moment in your chise so far

We haven’t had too many moments yet considering how young this franchise is but beating the Steelers 24-21 in the rain was really special. They had a chance to win it all and rookie linebacker Mark Herzlich had a tremendous sack on fourth down to preserve the win for us. I think I might have actually jumped out of my seat on that one.

What other chises do you follow on here?

Way too many to count and I follow many silently as well. There are so many great ones on here. The main ones I am actively following at the moment are Deegeezy’s Tulane, Tearz Ole Miss, SPFB Cavs and Bills, and mfbmike’s Nets.

If you could improve/change one thing about DSS, what would it be?

Nothing at all, I think Mike has done a really nice job with the site. I just hope it continues to grow. I know I will be sticking around.

Have any tips for other chisers?

I know it has been said over and over again but truly chise for you. To quote a movie, you do it for the love of the game. As long as you are having fun and enjoying it then the followers and recognition will come. To quote another a movie, if you build it they will come. I think the biggest mistake I see is people trying to do something just because they think people will follow and if you’re not loving it then what is the point in doing it. Then again this principle should really be applied to all of life, it’s too short my friends make sure you are loving every second of it. Don’t do the same thing everyone else is doing, challenge the standard. Don’t try to be just as good as so or so try to be better. Some of the best chises, I have ever read have come from people who did completely new layouts or tried completely new ideas. At the end of the day do what you love, and do it for you.

Also I know there isn’t a question on here regarding this but I’d like to take a moment to recognize a few users. You have all inspired me, motivated me, and all in all just been great friends throughout all my chising and for that there is no “thanks” button on the internet big enough. A special thanks to: Deegeezy, Tearz49ers, LC, mfbmike, Woy, RockUrSocks, mjhyankees, JohnnyU, Matt10, Agent, Lumpkin, G-Force, DaTe, Dal Reborn, ChillCavern, ORavensTerps, DJ Rhude, SPFB, brady2moss, HeyJ, J Mocks, Smitty, VA Assassin, and so many more of you as I am sure there are many I have missed. Thank you all.
