The 2014 NFL season is just around the corner as week two of the preseason is almost in the books. This gives every fantasy football player and sports bettor something to get excited for.
Despite being able to gamble on the preseason action most experts take this time to learn about each team. This gives fantasy owners a chance to analyze every position to build their mock drafts as well a list of players that they want to draft. For sports bettors this gives you a chance to see each team up close.
As we look around the NFL we start to look at some of the top headlines for the first two weeks of the preseason.
Joe Flacco and the Baltimore Ravens offense have put together back to back games of solid offense. This is something the Ravens looked to address this off-season when they signed Gary Kubiak to be the teams offensive coordinator. The team also signed Steve Smith to team up with wide receivers Torrey Smith, Marlon Brown and Jacoby Jones. The entire offense looks better giving fantasy owners something to think about on their key offensive contributors.
Tony Romo made his first start since off-season back surgery. The Dallas Cowboys quarterback looked good completing four of five passes for 80 yards and a touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens on Saturday Night. The encouraging play not only raises his fantasy value but also wide receivers Dez Bryant and Terrance Williams overall value.
Jimmy Graham continues to be one of the games best touchdown weapons as he pulled in two touchdowns against the Tennessee Titans. Graham also picked up two penalties for dunking the ball over the crossbar. Not that anyone expected his production to drop but this all came with out star quarterback Drew Brees. The New Orleans Saints will put up a ton of points in 2014 encouraging many bets to go with the over on points.
Aaron Rodgers has emerged as one of the top fantasy quarterback after a strong eleven of thirteen outing with a touchdown against the St. Louis Rams. Rodgers missed some time last season after breaking his collar bone but his late season return and strong preseason has put him in the same draft class of Peyton Manning and Drew Brees.
New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles put together 77 points in the first three quarters of their week 2 preseason game. These two teams are two of the NFL fastest working offenses with Chip Kelly calling the plays for Philadelphia and Tom Brady’s ability to get the Patriots to the line of scrimmage. These two teams should be two of the highest scoring offenses in the NFL and could make it difficult to play the over/under each week depending on the predicted outcome.
