Well, this relationship sure didn’t last too long. Though the lockout isn’t officially over yet, the Suns are letting it known that they will waive Vince Carter before his 18 million dollar salary for 2011-2012 is guaranteed.
Based on an amendment in his contract obtained by ESPN.com, Carter must be waived by the Phoenix Suns within 72 hours of the official start of free agency or his $18 million salary for the 2011-12 season becomes fully guaranteed.
In 51 games with the Suns, Carter only averaged 13.5 points per game while shooting 42% from the field and 36% from 3. It will be interesting to see if VC can take a lesser role on a contender and not complain or if he’ll go on Allen Iverson route. All I know is their are many teams that would love his services *cough* Bulls *cough* Heat.
