Ryan Mathews, the Chargers starting RB was injured on his only carry in San Diego’s preseason opener vs. Green Bay. Mathews will undergo surgery on Friday. The broken clavicle will keep him out for four to six weeks, and will most likely miss the Chargers opener.

Behind Mathews at RB for the Chargers is veteran Ronnie Brown, Curtis Brinkley, Jackie Battle and rookie Edwin Baker. The Chargers will most likely have Brown as their #1 RB.
