LaDainian Tomlinson To Announce Retirement Monday

LC June 15, 2012 0

After getting news that LT was ‘95% retired‘, it appears that LT will announce his retirement Monday at a press conference.  LT’s production has steadily dropped as the wear and tear has set in from his early career dominance.  Last season, LT only rushed 75 times for 280 yards, but he also caught 42 passes for 449 yards.  But that’s nothing compared to his stats all the years in San Diego.  If LT doesn’t play another NFL game, his career totals stand at 13,684 rushing yards, 145 rushing touchdowns, 4,772 receiving yards, 17 touchdown receptions, and even 7 passing touchdowns as a running back.

Ladainian Tomlinson was seleceted with the 5th overall pick in the 2001 draft, which the acquired from the Atlanta Falcons after trading them the #1 pick, which the Falcons used on Michael Vick.  Tomlinson spent the first 9 years of his career in San Diego before signing with the Jets in 2010.  He only missed 3 games in his 9 year tenure with the Chargers. Tomlinson, often referred to by his initials, L. T., has been selected to five Pro Bowls and has been an All-Pro six times. Tomlinson won two rushing titles, in 2006 and 2007, and ranks fifth in career rushing yards. During the 2006 NFL season, he set several records and received numerous honors and awards including the NFL’s Most Valuable Player Award andAssociated Press’ Offensive Player of the Year Award.
